Are DiamondBack Tonneau Covers Worth it?

DiamondBack Tonneau Covers are perhaps the most widely recognized brand of heavy-duty tonneau cover on the market. But, just like in high school, popularity doesn’t necessarily equate quality. With such a big investment, you may be asking yourself, are DiamondBack Tonneau Covers worth it?

Sure, the DiamondBack Cover is offers high weight-bearing capacity, various resilient finishes, and great accessories. But before you click “Add to Cart,”  it could be that another cover is better suited to meet your needs.

Weight-Bearing Tonneau Cover

The DiamondBack HD Tonneau Cover is the only DiamondBack model that provides a substantial load-bearing capacity. While the HD can take on up to 1,600 lbs., it’s important to note that DiamondBack’s other covers can only bear 400 distributed pounds. 

Though DiamondBack is the industry standard for weight-bearing tonneau covers, it is not the leader. Rather, Renegade’s Tonneau Cover hauls up to 2,000 pounds on top! As far as build quality, the DiamondBack has tack welded cross members underneath, and exposed welds on the top of the cover. The Renegade is friction stir welded along the entirety of the cover.

Tonneau Cover Accessories

Whether you have a DiamondBack Tonneau Cover or Renegade Tonneau Cover, there is a wide array of accessories at your disposal. However, if you have a DiamondBack, you’ll need to permanently drill into your cover.
