DiamondBack Cover Review

Is a DiamondBack Cover Worth it?

The big question on everyone’s mind is if investing in a DiamondBack Cover is worth it. If you twist our arm, we’ll tell you the truth: It’s not the best heavy duty cover out there. Will it be “good enough” for you? Sure, probably! But there’s definitely something better out there. Read on to see a DiamondBack Cover Review.

DiamondBack Review

There is plenty to love about a DiamondBack Cover and reviewers are quick to celebrate these features — it’s American-made, has a rugged look, and feels really secure. Folks like knowing their truck bed cover is heavy duty and point to how they can stand on their DiamondBack Cover. The highest model the DiamondBack HD holds up to 1,600 pounds, so you’re pretty safe up there.

Some reviewers highlight the multiple access points, and others complain about them (particularly the static mid-section). Reading DiamondBack Reviews is also a helpful exercise if you’re trying to problem-solve a common issue, as users are quick to offer their jerry-rigged solutions. An exception to this is a solution for the lack of water-tightness in a DiamondBack Cover; based on the number of reviews that complain about this, it’s definitely something the company needs to address.

Heavy-Duty Truck Bed Cover

What if there were another heavy-duty truck bed cover out there, but you just haven’t heard about it? The last thing you want to do is invest in a DiamondBack, then realize it’s an industry leader because it has been around awhile, not because it’s the best cover on the market.

The Renegade Cover, for example, is also American-made and has a similar rugged look, but its features far outweigh those of DiamondBack. The question of security is never on the mind of a Renegade Cover user, as our extensive locking pins keep everyone and everything out. Plus, this cover can hold up to 2,000 pounds, which makes DiamondBack HD’s 1,600lb max seem like it may underperform.

One of the most important features of the Renegade Cover is its versatility. Unlike the DiamondBack Truck Bed Cover, this tonneau cover can be used like a flat bed (without any of those pesky decorative latches on top) and it folds up compactly if you need to tow a trailer or fill up your truck bed with something like rock or soil for a garden project.

DiamondBack Cover Alternative

The Renegade Cover is the best truck bed cover for contractors, but also adventurers. Is it too good to be true? We can understand why you might think so. But there’s also a reason we keep selling out. Our advice is to do your due diligence; read a DiamondBack Cover review or two, read Renegade Cover reviews, talk to people that have a DiamondBack Cover, a Renegade Cover, or another tonneau cover. This is an investment in the future life you’ve been dreaming about; take your time, and we’ll see you soon when you inevitably decide Renegade is the way to go.

Researching DiamondBack Cover Reviews

As you search for the best, heavy-duty truck bed cover, it’s easy to get bogged down in customer reviews. The question is, though, how similar those customers are to YOU. If someone is a contractor, they have different needs than a free spirit that chases adventure like nobody’s business. Let’s get into the DiamondBack Cover reviews.

Popular Themes in DiamondBack Reviews

In addition to celebrating DiamondBack Covers’ American heritage and quality, reviews often mention loving the rugged look and security of this cover. Quite a few even mention how they appreciate knowing these are covers they can stand on. After all, their models can hold up to 400lbs!

Some reviewers seemed surprised that these covers are designed for a specific truck make, model, and year. So it’s important to know you can’t just take it with you when you get a different truck. While many reviewers mention the high price, many also praise the customer service provided by DiamondBack, saying that when parts arrived damaged, they got replacements in the mail quickly.

Reviews sometimes mention the multiple access points and folks seem fairly content about getting into their truck bed covers. Though some are frustrated by how things shift while driving, making them impossible to reach when only certain panels open. The static mid-section is especially problematic; on reviewer commented, “Sometimes the fixed middle section gets in my way.”

Other reviewers offer solutions to address common problems. For example, one person wrote, “the locks and ‘handles’ will freeze up just like any other lock so keep some lock de-icer handy.” Good to know!

Watertight Truck Bed Cover

One of the biggest complaints about DiamondBack Covers is that they aren’t very watertight. While some customers think it does the job just fine, they admit it’s “a bit leaky” or “fairly watertight.” Others are more descriptive with their frustrations.

One reviewer noted, “The first downpour we had I looked in my truck bed and saw two very fast drips coming in. Later I took a hose to the cover and found that water leaked in at all four corners where the two lids attach to the center panel. With flooding water from the hose they weren’t drips, they were streams. Online searching told me this wasn’t an isolated problem, either. In the end, it comes down to poor engineering and sloppy manufacturing.”

Another customer points to the middle panel as the issue, saying, “the two folding doors sit up at an angle and prove difficult to close and get a good water tight seal. This must be a common theme since I see pretty much every other Diamond Back cover on the road looking the same.”

Alternatives to DiamondBack Covers

As you continue your quest for the best hard truck bed cover, DiamondBack Covers are certainly worth considering. But do your due diligence by reading reviews. This is a company that has grown quickly, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best out there. In fact, we’re partial to smaller outfits that pay close attention to the quality of every single cover they create — like Renegade Covers.

Renegade Covers are weathertight, and include extra foam to help protect any potential leaky spots. There are no cleats to tie down on a Renegade Cover, but instead there are unlimited places on your cover to tie down to, using a L-track. You can also do more than just stand on a Renegade Cover since they can hold 2,000 pounds! Don’t just take our word for it, go check them out.
