Preparing to Install your Truck Bed Cover
Generally we recommend having the following tools handy when installing a Renegade Cover:
- Measuring Tape
- Box Cutter Knife
- Ratchet
- Work Light
- Blue Loctite

When it comes to installing the Renegade Cover on your Toyota Tacoma, you’ll also need these tools:
- 1⁄2” Socket Wrench
- 1⁄2” Deep Well Socket
- 3⁄4” Open End Socket Wrench
- 1/8” Allen Wrench
- Torx bits and Torx driver (in order to remove the mounting rail to insert latch hardware)
With these tools gathered, it’s time to get familiar with different parts of the Renegade Cover, like the Slide Latch, Spring Plunger, and Latch Post. The best way to do this is reading through all the instructions once, before beginning any work. We know that’s a tough thing to ask, but it will really help you in the long run.
Maintaining your Tacoma Renegade Cover
Once it’s installed, you’re going to stay busy telling others about how much you love your Renegade Cover. But don’t forget the importance of taking care of it regularly.
If you start to notice the bed liner coating is fading, use a roller to roll on Armor-All protectant to make it look like new! Also, if the Slide Latches begin to increase in resistance, it’s probably just time to spray garage door lubricant into all of the openings inside the Latch and cycle the Latch. This is important annual maintenance, but should be done more often if your adventures often take you through dust and dirt.
