Install Instructions for Ford

Install Renegade Cover on your Ford

“Built Ford Tough” may be a slogan all Ford owners can claim, but you’re stepping it up a notch when you add a Renegade Cover to the mix. If you’ve already made this excellent purchase and you’re ready to install it, you’re in the right place. If you can’t wait to jump in, here’s a link to the installation instructions. In case it helps, consider the following highlights from the install instructions for Ford.

Preparing to Install your Renegade Bed Cover

Before you get too ahead of yourself, it’s important to ask: Is your half-ton Ford Truck a 2014 or older? If you have a 3/4 or 1 ton Ford Truck a 2016 or older? If you answered yes to either these, reach out to us for additional installation information. If you have a newer model, keep reading.

As a general rule, we recommend having the following on hand when installing a Renegade Cover:

  • Measuring Tape
  • Box Cutter Knife
  • Ratchet
  • 3/4” Open End Socket Wrench
  • Another 3/4” Open End Socket Wrench, or a Crescent Wrench
  • Work Light
  • Blue Loctite

To install the Renegade Cover on your Ford Truck, you’ll also need the following tools:

  • 1⁄2” Socket Wrench
  • 1⁄2” Deep Socket Wrench
  • 3⁄4” Open End Wrench
  • 1/8” Allen Wrench
  • Torx bits and Torx driver (in order to remove existing Ford hardware from inside the bed and to reinstall it after latch brackets are positioned)

Now that you’ve gathered these tools, you’re ready to familiarize yourself with the different parts of the Renegade Cover, like the Slide Latch, Spring Plunger, and Latch Post. The best way to do this is reading through all the instructions once, before beginning any work. That’s a big ask, we know, but we promise it’s worth your time.

Maintaining your Renegade Cover

Once your new Renegade Cover is installed, you’ll be so busy loving it that you might forget to care for it regularly. For example, if you start to notice the bed liner coating is fading, use a roller to roll on Armor-All protectant to make it look like new! Also, if the Slide Latches begin to increase in resistance, it’s probably just time to spray garage door lubricant into all of the openings inside the Latch and cycle the Latch. This is important annual maintenance, but should be done more frequently if you spend a lot of time in dusty or dirty conditions.
